Golden Globe Fashion 2010

They’re ba-a-ack.The annual award season is upon us, and you’ll get lots of opportunities over the next few months to see the good, the bad, and the ugly in red carpet fashion with the Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammy’s, etc.

While I don’t always agree with every critic about who looks good and who doesn’t, you can learn A LOT about dressing by looking at red carpet pictures to see why some looks work and some obviously don’t.  Whether you’re into celebrity fashion or not, take a little time to look at colors, shapes, lines, and fabrics to see why some of your favorite celebrities look amazing – and while some could use a good guiding hand.

For Example:

Here, Penelope Cruz manages to stun with horizontal stripes and a fishtail hem.  Color, lines, silhouette – this one isn’t easy to pull off, but she manages it brilliantly.  Beautiful!

Christina Hendricks of Mad Men is also beautiful with her red hair and lush curves, which is why this particular dress choice was so unfortunate.  The color washes her out and the huge ruffle competes with her curves.  Something simple and ocean blue would have worked better, in my opinion.

Here are some of the Golden Globe reviews that you might enjoy:

As you look through the pictures, pay attention to what you like and don’t like about certain looks.  You’ll be amazed at what you can learn from others’ triumphs and mistakes.  Then, apply what you see to your own dressing.  Your wardrobe – and image – will be better for it.
