“Sex and the City 2″ Fashion Review

Some friends and I did a rare “dinner and movie” night and went and saw Sex and the City 2.  While the storyline wasn’t particularly great, there were definitely some great fashion moments.

Including:

The friends’ wedding sequence was LOL funny, and I especially enjoyed watching Liza Minelli channel Beyonce on stage.  Can you believe Liza’s 64?  She and Tina Turner — both kickin’ it like they’re decades younger.

I also liked the 80’s flashbacks of when they all met.  Riotous!  Hard to believe we used to walk around in public like that.

Other favorite ensembles:

  • Miranda’s last day at the office
  • Charlotte baking cupcakes
  • Carrie at the premiere
  • Carmen (Penelope Cruz) at the premiere
  • Charlotte’s off-the-shoulder dress on the plane
  • Charlotte and Miranda swapping sob stories over cocktails in Abu Dhabi
  • The shoes
  • The black diamond

What didn’t I like?

  • The harem pants (I bet you’ll see them everywhere this summer)
  • Samantha’s premiere dress
  • Carrie’s t-shirt and taffeta combo at the bazaar
  • The weird shoulder spikes Samantha wore to sing karaoke.

In fact, about the only thing that saved that scene was the juxtaposition of belly dancers jamming to “I am Woman, Hear Me Roar” and hunky Max Ryan as Rikard Spirit.  Hysterical!

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the costuming from Instyle.com.  I had NO IDEA there was so much involved.  So many costume changes!  Notice the heavy use of vintage pieces.

If you haven’t had a chance to see Sex and the City 2 yet, grab a fashion-loving friend and go.  There are parts you’ll definitely enjoy!
