When to Give Up the Daisy Dukes

December 5, 2009 by Diana · 8 Comments

Viewer warning: This is NOT for the faint of heart!

At what age should you give up the short shorts?

If you’re in excellent physical shape with no cellulite or excess weight, I’d say the very latest you can get away with wearing these is late 20’s.  Age 30 is the absolute limit.  This is a young woman’s style – just like pinafores are for girls – and trying to push the limit with them will make you look ridiculous.  You don’t have to give up every style as you age, you just have know what’s appropriate for each decade so you can look fabulous at any age.

If you’re NOT in good physical shape, don’t even bother.  Styles that showcase hardbodies are absolutely merciless on softbodies.

So, to recap:

Youth + hard body + short shorts = hot look

Age + soft body + short shorts = well, see for yourself =>

Thanks for sharing an image that will be certain to crack up my dad (we share a crude sense of humor)! on the bright side, it looks like this lady is still attracting the men at a time of life when women are greatly outnumbered. So maybe it was worth the ……. ‘risk’?

Holy Cow! That is certainly a look. Probably not the one she was looking for. It’s a good reminder for all of us to have some mirrors set up so we can see the back a well.

When you are wearing orthopedic shoes it is definitely time to retire the daisy dukes!

  4. Citygirl says:

Not just short shorts, but also with cut out slits?

I think this type of clothing is never flattering. It pays to leave something up to fantasy. Several men I know have stated that they are not interested in what Dick, Tom and Harry have seen already – and they were young men in their twenties. Same goes, I think, for butt cleavage, all-over-tans and any other excessive display of nakedness. I do not think that “bare” equals “sexy” automatically!

  6. Maria says:

Claudia made some excellent points. Men who would be attracted to female “nakedness” are not men to have children with. Anyway, this poor woman needs help…what can I say???

OMG! Well, for her age I suppose she looks decent, but decent at 60 is not the same as decent for 20! I hate to say it ladies, but if you don’t have a Jessica Simpson body, those shorts should stay in the closet!!!! I’m a size 4, and have a pretty good body, but would NEVER wear those! Butt Cheeks shouldn’t be displayed by anyone unless you are a hooker, because that’s what “cheek cleavage” makes you look like! Have some class!

  8. truly shocking but also what concerns me is the sock and shoe issue going on!!! actually …is she wearing socks and if yes or no the question is still WHY with those shoes and WHY those shoes?
Body confidence in extreme! great picture to remind us of WHY we should appreciate what we have and our somewhat better dress sense (well hopefully!)
