Giorgio Armani Joins the Thin Model Ban

Tired of seeing wafer-thin models on runways?  So are some fashion designers.  In fact, after the organizers of the Rome Fashion Week announced earlier this month that all models participating in their January 2007 shows must provide a “certificate of health” before they can hit the runway, Italian designer Giorgio Armani joined the campaign by saying that he won’t use models smaller than a size 12 in his show.

Since Spanish designers announced in September that they will no longer be using smaller sized models either, it will be interesting to see how soon — or even if — this trend will make its way to other countries like the U.S. or Japan.  Stay tuned…
